For being a girl who likes and thrives on routine, this shift change has shaken things up a bit.
It hasn’t even been a week so I am trying to give myself a break and just figure out what fits where. I managed to get up at 4:30 a.m. and do a cardio both yesterday and today. But its not really a strenuous one. If building up running for this marathon was hard at 9:00 a.m. its virtually impossible at 4:30. I am extremely happy that I have been getting up and last night I did the weight workout I wanted to fit in as well.
However my house is a wreck (in my standards). I did get two loads of laundry done last night but I must vacuum and clean some tonight.
This weeks pre-scheduled social events have been canceled or moved due to the change in my shift. Dinner instead of lunch for example or just plain canceled all together. Missy hasn’t been to the park at all but luckily she had her buddy Jaq over a couple days to keep her busy. He is gone so tonight there must be a long walk or trip to the park (park is highly unlikely due to the light situation when I get home).
As stated I like routines. So I am just working on setting up new ones. Not to say that I can’t be spontaneous and head out to a happy hour now without prior planning. Just that I have a lot going on (by choice) that I need to fit back into this ever changing routine. If Murphy is working this as well….I should get this routine rockin and rollin just in time for the deluge that is peak at work to hit for 8 weeks and blow it out of the water. I will be happy when the weather is nicer and I can possibly leave Missy outside during the day.
So tonight’s list:
Walk Missy
Vacuum
Make hummingbird food and fill feeders
Take out Trash & Recycling
PUP (if there’s light)
Put away laundry

I have to admit I like routines too, but there always seems to be something that gets in the way of them! I’m no longer in the corporate world where someone took care of my schedule and made sure my routine stayed steady, so I tried creating my own set of routines — you know, Monday from 8 to 10 I’ll do email and check the blogs. Then 10 to noon I’ll….well, you get the point. That worked for about one week (okay, so maybe it was only one day…), and then all sorts of things just seemed to creep in and destroy my routine. If I’ve learned anything about routines, it’s that they are always going to change!
