Earthday; Primary; New Clutch

Posted on April 22, 2008. Filed under: Ramblings |

Thats right, my truck is back in the shop, this time its the clutch. There is no current job, however things are looking up, but another expense is no fun. It is a used truck but its not like I want to take on a car payment right now and besides, I really would need a clutch to sell or trade in the Missy mobile. Hopefully it will be done later today and I can walk back to the garage. If its not done today my plan is to take a bus into the city tomorrow for an interview and then pick it up in the afternoon.

In the spirit of earth-day I would like to talk about recycling the Compact Fluorescent Lights. These bulbs we are encouraged to use because they use less energy. Supposedly they last 10 times as long. Last fall I replaced the bulbs in my bathroom vanity. Granted it takes a lot so I go for lower wattage of the regular ones. I had been in the house 4 years and the incandescent bulbs had never burned out, however out of the 7 in the vanity there only 2 of the CFL bulbs that are still working. So there are two questions…one should I bother with CFL again, I mean if they only last 6-8 months how can they be better for the environment even if they use less electricity and two where in the heck to recycle them. In doing a little research on the recycling I answered that question and thought I would share that the website Earth 911 has a spot at the top that you can put in what you want to recycle and your zip code and you will get a list of places near you.

Today is the primary in Philadelphia, I am officially sick of this primary. Sick! I have more in my head about today’s primary but actually now I don’t even want to talk about it. I just hope there is a candidate soon.
