Santa Santa

We took a lovely and much deserved day off today.  We took a drive up to Santa Ynez and met up with students of Lori’s from last year.

We stopped in Santa Barbara on the way up and had lunch, walked around the beautiful little down town and saw some sites and people watched.

IMG_2073We then finished the trek up to Santa Ynez and me an entire group of grad students from one of the schools she taught at last year.  They were at a winery and we got there toward the end of the picnic and wine they were having.  Everyone was so thrilled to see Lori.  They talked of how she inspired and helped them and everyone caught up on where the projects are now.  They are third and fourth year students so deep into the thesis work right now.

We left and followed them to one of the students houses.  This student is our age and back at school for a second career.  This house is the “weekend” house although in talking to his wife, they don’t get up there every weekend.

There are no words to describe this place.  Well there are words, Amazing, Expansive, Rustic yet Classy.  I didn’t have my camera and only took my phone out a couple of times to grab pictures because I didn’t want to be rude.  We mingled and caught up and marveled at the view.

We left before the salmon hit the grill and drinks were really just starting to make rounds.  It was a lovely drive in our new sporty car and a great day for our three-year anniversary.

Congratulations on your 3-year anniversary! I’m so happy for you two. Like I’ve said before – there is greater joy than to see your two best friends fall-in-love. I wish you many, many wonderful anniversaries to come. 🙂

Oops…. I meant to say “there is NO greater joy than to see your two best friends fall-in-love.”
