Move update

If you haven’t been following along I know that title could be confusing. I am talking about the new set of feral kittens having been moved.

Two of the four kittens escaped through the side door of the kitty condo they were in, pushing over a chair that was sort of blocking the door.

I picked them up and put them back but the momma was growling and hissing at me and my fear was she would move them, and she did.

The very next morning they were not there and my last blog was that she moved them.

It was later that same day when I was walking around checking places that I saw the momma through the door of a different kitty condo.

She in fact just moved them from one shelter to another, one that is actually closer to the house and better yet, in line with one of the backyard webcams.

When I was out there weeding I casually set a brick down in front of the door so the babies couldn’t open it. The momma goes in and out of the top floor and can get to them.

I also snapped this pick through the door. The rest are from the web cam.

They are now four weeks old. Four weeks away from being able to give away, two weeks at the minimum. (Exactly when I will be away on vacation in Seattle)

As you can see she isn’t getting too far away and watches me carefully whenever I’m in the yard. I put one of the cat beds on the ground outside so she can be comfortable when she is not inside with them.

Mid April

What a week. Work was very busy, the food bank was very busy, and the usual life things were very busy.

I didn’t go to yoga on Tuesday, the morning class on that day is a gentle class and instead I put in several hours of work in the yard to fill both yard waste bins and got half of the front yard cut back. It is easier to see backing out of the driveway, but still half to go.

The goal this rainy weekend was to fill them again to be picked up this week. That has not happened.

On Wednesday I worked my check in shift at the yoga studio then had a private session to work on a couple of things that need fine tuning.

Besides having to be at work a couple hours early on Monday the shifts all week until Friday were non stop. But there seems to be the dullest of lights at the end of the peak tunnel.

On Thursday I was really hoping for a light day at the food bank so I could get more done at home but instead it was extremely busy. They have also changed the days for handing out food so were expecting a lot of people later in the day.

After I put everything away they had me bag up food for 12 families. This was three bags apiece. One was full of cans (blue bags) then a bag of dried goods like oatmeal, beans, applesauce, pasta, nuts, milk, peanut butter, ect. And then a third bag of frozen food, protien, strawberries and tortillas. By the time I finished I had just enough time to get home and walk before work.

Friday after yoga, dropping off dry cleaning, doing laundry and my walk before work it was nice to have a slower night.

I also took about 20 of these pictures, sticking my phone into the Portulacaria trying to get a glimpse of Ethel and her kittens, with no luck. But at one point something growled at me so I figured I was close and walked away.

Today while on the phone I walked out back to lower the umbrella because the wind was picking up. I had seen Ethel go into one of the feral cat condos yesterday. She had gone in but came right back out.

But while walking past it and she was across the yard I opened up the lid to see four week old kittens.

I did not stick around or try and touch them. From what I have read you should wait about two weeks before touching.

I also don’t want her to abandon them. I was happy to see her hanging out in the rain on the top floor looking out the door, knowing her kits were dry and warm inside.

Lori thinks she has homes for all four, of course assuming we catch and tame them. So very many pieces of advice on that today as the pictures were shared.

One friend who has captured kittens that young guaranteed us the momma would follow if we moved them. She did it and put them all in her spare bathroom. I said fine I’ll bring them all to her place because we don’t have a spare bathroom. 🤣

I do know that if Ethel abandons them we will have to bottle feed as the pound euthanizes bottle babies for lack of staff and we do not have the time or energy for that!

Body and Brain

My body and my brain are exhausted! There has been so much to cover, practice and teach this weekend.

We ended up not having the teaching quiz yesterday, it is next weekend. I think she purposely said Saturday so we would practice but it is next week. We did have to teach it to others and have others teach it to us at least a dozen times each day.

Along with some in depth pose adjustments. Mine was in Warrior Two and that had me in this pose for at least 10 minutes for micro adjustments.

I have a bunch of homework for the week, studying skeletal structure and muscle names along with the poses we learned and some reading. Not to mention at least three classes.

Im behind in my walking which is to be expected. But I had to go get a couple miles once we were home tonight just to loosen up my body.

2024, week one

How was your first week of the year? Week one seemed to fly by.

Ours started with gunfire outside our house just two hours into the new year. Five shots into the air by some unknown person. I caught it in the ring driveway camera and turned the video and shell casings over to the sheriff.

The police helicopter circling the very next day and telling us to stay in the house felt a little more dire after this random gunfire.

I then spent two days dog sitting this big guy and working from the God daughter’s house. It had its challenges, mostly the work set up. But they left me primo accommodations.

I am ending the week with food poisoning however. We went out with friends last night and were not home an hour before I started stomach cramping. I did not sleep last night, cancelled yoga today because there was just no way.

Since we had prepped the hall yesterday for painting, we did manage to get the hall painted today. But nothing else, not even my usual walk.

Week two includes a random vacation day on Friday, just to get a couple in before my works peak season where we are blocked from taking days off. Also a massage and the beginning of 12 weeks of Yoga Teacher Training that will have us very busy for the rest of Winter.
